  At the age of 18 , she came to Calgary. Three years later she married. In 1901 they took up a homestead which later became part of the site of Airdrie. They opperated a general store. In 1907 they moved to Victoria and returned to Airdrie in 1911 to resume business. In 1914 they bought a farm east of Airdrie and Mr. Bowers was accidently killed in 1922. She continued to manage the farm with the help of her son Gordon. About 30 years later she moved to Edmonton to live with a daughter and then to Calgary where she died.
